commissioning dog portraits...

photo of your pooch custom made.   It's all about YOUR dog. I tailor each portrait to reflect the personality and spirit of your beloved pet. Living in Los Angeles for 9 years enabled me to accomodate every type of person from directors and actors, to film industry workers, store owners, friends, and diverse pet lovers of all walks of life. I aim to please and can work in styles ranging from traditional to more contemporary, sometimes funky, sometimes whimsical, but always with my heart and in my personal style.

dog portrait process.   My goal is to capture the essence of your pet. I typically use high-quality acrylic paint on found wood that I treat, sand and smooth. I like to work from photographs and can use an existing picture if you have a particular favorite, or I'm happy to photograph your dog myself. This allows me to meet your pet and get a feel for their personality. If I can not meet your pet in person, I need to talk with you to get a better idea of what he/she is like, his or her character and quirks, etc. I make sure we both have a final vision in mind before I start working. Most of my portraits do resemble the photographs, but together we can confirm which photograph I will be using, as well as the size, look, and feel.

prices.   I traditionally charge $850. for a custom dog portrait, plus shipping. Additional animals in a portrait are $425 more. Average sizes run about 16"x 20" but I can accommodate any special requests. The usual turnaround time is about 5 weeks. I always require a 50% deposit before I start, and the rest upon completion.

getting started.   It's easy to get the process started; simply send me a message so we can begin the conversation and start talking about your dog. This is is always fun, as I love talking about my own dogs as well!
